Sales Tax For USA Zip Code Help

You have selected to add or edit the sales tax information for a specific zip code "prefix". This information controls how the store collects sales tax for customer orders being shipped to a zip code that starts with this prefix.

NOTE: This tax will be added to any State or USA sales tax you may have already defined for your store.

Required fields are indicated with a star * after their field name.

ZIP CODE PREFIX*:
Enter the first 4 digits of the zip code. This field is required and must be exactly 4 digits long. You don't need to enter all 5 digits of a zip code.

Example: enter "8501" to tell the store to collect sales tax for customer orders shipped to all zip codes starting with "8501" (like 85010, 85011, ...85019).

SALES TAX PERCENTAGE:
If you want the store to charge sales tax as a percentage of the total amount ordered, enter a value in this field.

Examples: enter 10.50 to have the store calculate sales tax as 10.5% of the total amount ordered. Enter 0.50 to have the store calculate sales tax as a half of a percent.

NOTE: for each zip code prefix, you must enter EITHER a sales tax percentage OR a flat sales tax amount - but NOT both.

FLAT SALES TAX AMOUNT:
If you want the store to charge a flat sales tax amount per order, enter a value in this field.

USA Store Example: enter 7.50 to have the store charge a flat $7.50 for sales tax on every order shipped to this zip code prefix.

NOTE: for each zip code prefix, you must enter EITHER a sales tax percentage OR a flat sales tax amount - but NOT both.

SALES TAX ON SHIPPING?
Normally, sales tax is applied as a percentage of the total amount of products ordered before shipping costs are added. However, if you want the store to calculate sales taxes on BOTH the products ordered AND the shipping cost, then click the "Yes" option. Otherwise, click the "No" option.

NOTE: Coupon savings and purchase discounts are deducted before sales taxes and shipping charges are calculated and added to the customer's order.
