Selection List Help

This section is used to define up to 1,000 sub-categories for each category. This Page: the web page you are currently looking at shows you a list of all of the sub-categories currently defined for the selected department and category. A sub-category must be setup in this section before you are allowed to assign products to it. Displaying Sub-Categories: to display a list of sub-categories, first choose a department using the first drop down list provided and click the SELECT DEPARTMENT button. The store will then show you a list of categories assigned to that department. Next, select one of the categories in the second drop-down list and click the SELECT CATEGORY button. This tells the store to display the assigned sub-categories for the selected department and category. Selection List: Each sub-category "record" for the selected department and category is shown on its own line, and the entire list of sub-categories is shown in order by the list position you assigned. If the list is empty, it means you have not defined any sub-categories for the selected department and category. NO SELECT DEPARTMENT BUTTON: if the store fails to display a SELECT DEPARTMENT button or a department drop down list, it means that NONE of your departments are "linked to a list of categories". Only departments that are setup to "link to a list of categories" will appear for selection. NO SELECT CATEGORY BUTTON: if the store fails to display a SELECT CATEGORY button or a category drop down list, it means that NONE of your categories are "linked to a list of sub-categories". Only categories that are setup to "link to a list of sub-categories" will appear for selection. To add a new sub-category to the list, click on the ADD NEW button. If the ADD NEW button does not appear on the page, it means you have already setup the maximum number of sub-categories allowed for the selected department and category (1,000 per category). NOTE: When adding, be sure to switch to the correct department and category before you press the ADD NEW button. To change an existing sub-category, click the EDIT button shown to the right of the sub-category's information. NOTE: each sub-category listed has its own EDIT button. To delete an existing sub-category, click the DELETE button shown to the right of the sub-category's information. NOTE: if you delete a sub-category, the store will also delete any products assigned to this sub-category as well! Viewing: for certain types of sub-categories, a VIEW button will appear next to the EDIT and DELETE buttons. Clicking on the VIEW button will allow you to display what the sub-category will look like when it is shown to your customers. This feature is not available for sub-categories that link to a "Static Web Page" or that are defined as a "Section Title". IMPORTANT: while this option will display the sub-category's web page, some items or links on the page may not function properly if you have NOT finished building your entire store. Thumbnail Image: if you uploaded and assigned a thumbnail image for a sub-category, it will be shown next to the sub-category's name. The store will automatically resize the image to display properly within the selection list. The store will NOT resize the image when it is displayed on your store pages. |
