Store Data Files - Selection Help

|
|
This page allows you to gather up all or part of your store's contents for backup. This allows you to save (download) the store's information to your computer for safe keeping. If a problem ever develops with your store's database system, this backup can be used to restore your store's products, images, skins, orders, etc... Therefore, it is very important to backup your store every time you make changes as well as after orders have been received and/or processed. Normally, only the first 3 items need to be selected for backup. However, you may choose any or all of the items if you so desire. Backup Customer Order Files - this will backup the current contents of the store's customer order files. NOTE: for security purposes, this will only include credit card data when "LOCAL SSL" is being used for the store. Backup Uploaded Image Files - this backs up all the images that you have uploaded to your store (like for a department, a product, the store logo, etc...) Backup Store's Database Files - this saves the store's master database files that contain the store's configuration and settings.
Backup Store's Skin Templates - this saves all of the store's
"skins" (template) and their images. This is useful if you
want to download skins, make changes, and then upload them to your store.
Depending on the size of your store, the backup procedure may take a few minutes to complete. Therefore, please be patient, and ONLY press the CONTINUE button once! NOTE: if you plan on making changes to the downloaded backup file (to modify the skins for example), you will need a program that is able to read and create UNIX/LINUX "Gzipped TAR" files (like WinZip) to in order to access, change, Tar + Gzip, and then upload the contents of this file back to your store. CAUTION - if the directory structure or naming conventions built into this TAR file are changed in any way, uploading it to your store could cause the restore to fail and the store to malfunction! IMPORTANT - only experienced users should attempt this level of modification. |
