Product Selection List Help

This section is used to define up to 1,000 products for each section of the store. Since this limit is applied to each section of the store, it means your store can support up to 1,000,000,000,000 products (1 trillion).

This Page: the web page you are currently looking at shows you a list of all of the products currently defined for the selected section of the store. A product must be setup in this section before it will appear in your store.

Displaying products: to display a list of products, first choose a department using the first drop down list provided and then click the SELECT DEPARTMENT button. The store will show you a list of categories assigned to that department.

Next, select one of the categories in the second drop-down list and click the SELECT CATEGORY button. This tells the store to display the assigned sub-categories for the selected department and category.

Finally, select one of the sub-categories in the third drop-down list and click the SELECT SUB-CATEGORY button to see the products assigned to that section of the store.

NOTE: if the store does NOT display a category drop down list when you change departments, it means the selected department is assigned to a single product or a list of products (and not to a category).

NOTE: Likewise, if the store does NOT display a sub-category drop down list when you change categories, it means the selected category is assigned to a single product or a list of products (and not to a sub-category).

Selection List: Each product "record" for the selected section of the store is shown on its own line, and will be shown in order by the list position you assigned. If the list is empty, it means you have not defined any products for this section of the store.

NO SELECT DEPARTMENT BUTTON: if the store fails to display a SELECT DEPARTMENT button or a department drop down list, it means that NONE of your departments are linked to a list of categories, to a list of products, or to a single product. No products can be entered.

NO SELECT CATEGORY BUTTON: if the store fails to display a SELECT CATEGORY button or a category drop down list, it means that NONE of the categories (in the selected department) are linked to a list of sub-categories, to a list of products, or to a single product.

NO SELECT SUB-CATEGORY BUTTON: if the store fails to display a SELECT SUB-CATEGORY button or a sub-category drop down list, it means that NONE of the sub-categories (in the selected department and category) are linked to a list of products or to a single product.

To ADD a new product to the list, click on the ADD NEW button. If the ADD NEW button does not appear on the page, it means you have already setup the maximum number of products allowed for this section of the store. The maximum number of products is 1000 per store section if it's assigned to a list of products, and only 1 if it's assigned to a single product.

NOTE: When adding, be sure to switch to the correct department, category, and/or sub-category before you press the ADD NEW button.

ADDING PRODUCTS - SPECIAL FEATURE - the store allows you to quickly add new products by using the values and options from another product in the store. This other product must have been previously selected as the "default product" (which is done while editing the default product's values on its data entry page). You may only select one product at a time that is to be used as the "default product". But once you do, its values and product options will be copied and used for all *new* products being added to the store. You can override (change) any of the values and options once they are copied to the new product, and you can change which product is selected as the "default product".

To CHANGE an existing product's information, click the EDIT button shown to the right of the product's information. NOTE: each product listed has its own EDIT button.

To DELETE an existing product, click the DELETE button shown to the right of the product's information. NOTE: deleting a product will also delete the product options assigned to it.

Viewing: A VIEW button will appear next to the EDIT and DELETE buttons for each product. Clicking on the VIEW button will allow you to display what the product's "Add To Cart" page will look like when it is shown to your customers.

IMPORTANT: while this option will display the product's web page, some items or links on the page may not function properly if you have NOT finished building your entire store.

To MOVE a product to a different section of the store, use the MOVE button shown to the right of the product's information.

To COPY DATA FROM THE DEFAULT PRODUCT, click on the COPY DEFAULTS button. When you do this, a confirmation page will appear to make sure you really want to replace this product's information with the data from the currently selected default product. If you confirm this action, this product's information (including its product options) will be replaced by the default product's information and options. The only fields NOT replaced are this product's name, display position, and ID number.

NOTE: the COPY DEFAULTS button will NOT display for the product that is currently selected as the default product. Similarly, if a "default product" has NOT yet been selected for the store, the COPY DEFAULTS button will not appear anywhere on the page.

Thumbnail Image: if you uploaded and assigned a thumbnail image for a product, it will be shown next to the product's name. The store will automatically resize the image to display properly within the selection list. The store will NOT resize the image when it is displayed on your store pages.

NUM IN STOCK COLUMN
If inventory is being tracked for a product, the number of units currently in stock will be shown in this column. If inventory is not being tracked for a product, its inventory will NOT be shown.

PRODUCT OPTIONS: if defined, the name of the product options will be shown directly underneath the product's name. If you wish to add or change product options for any product, click the PRODUCT OPTIONS button shown to the right of the product's information.
