FedEx Real-time Calculations

This feature is optional and is only activate within the store when "activated below'. If you activate this feature, you must also complete the rest of the fields below which control which FedEx shipping services are active and how rates are to be calculated.

CAUTION! Please be sure to carefully read the online help for this area of the store before using any of these features!

This is used to turn the FedEx real-time shipping calculations on or off in your store. To activate it, click the YES option above, and then complete the remaining fields below. If you click NO, everything below will be disabled for your store.

NOTE: if you activate this feature, the store will need to communicate directly with this shipping vendor's web site during customer checkout in order to obtain shipping costs.

Depending on your web server's speed, the number of calculations needed, and the speed of the Internet, this will most likely cause a delay during checkout while the store is waiting for this vendor to calculate and return shipping costs. This will occur just prior to the page where the customer selects their desired shipping method and cost.

Account Configuration

Federal Express Account Number*

Before using real-time FedEx shipping calculations, you must have a FedEx account number. Please enter it into the field above.

FedEx Meter Number*

A FedEx Meter Number is used for Internet real-time shipping calculations. If you already have a Meter Number, enter it into the field above. If not, you will need to complete the FedEx Meter Request form by clicking the REQUEST METER NUMBER button above.

Handling Charges

The real-time costs are only estimates provided by FedEx and only cover the shipping cost. You may wish to charge an additional amount for handling, packaging, or possibly to add a little extra profit to each sale. Use the fields below to add handling charges which will be added to the FedEx real-time shipping costs.

Base Handling Charge

This is an optional fixed amount that can be added to each FedEx real-time rate calculation result.

Example: enter 5.00 to add a flat $5.00 to each FedEx rate calculation result.

Leave this field blank if you do not want this extra charge added.

Percent Handling Charge

This is an optional percentage that can be added to each FedEx real-time rate calculation.

Examples: enter 1.5 if you wish each FedEx rate calculation result to be increased by 1.5%. Enter 5.0 if you want it increased by 5%.

Leave this field blank if you do not want this extra charge added.

Minimum Shipping Charge

This field is optional and can be used to control the minimum FedEx shipping amount for all real-time calculation results. If FedEx returns a real-time shipping cost (including any extra handling charge amounts) that is less than this amount, the store will increase the shipping cost to match this amount.

Leave this field blank if you do not want this feature active.

Home Delivery Signature Cost*

FedEx may charge an an additional amount for a home delivery if you require the signature of the recipient when you ship the customer's order.

Select YES if you wish every real-time shipping calculation to automatically include the extra cost for a Home Delivery Signature.

Rate Calculation Control

Ship From State

In order for FedEx to calculate rates properly, you need to designate the State where all products are being shipped from.

NOTE: this field is only required if Ship From Country is USA. Otherwise, select "None".

Ship From Zip or Postal Code

In order for FedEx to calculate rates properly, you need to designate the zip or postal code where all products are being shipped from.

NOTE: this field is only required if Ship From Country is USA or Canada. Otherwise, leave this field blank.

Ship From Country*

In order for FedEx to calculate rates properly, you need to designate the Country where all products are being shipped from.

This field is required for all stores.

Shipper's Unit of Weight Measurement*

In order for FedEx to calculate rates properly, you need to designate your FedEx unit of weight measurement code by selecting one from the list above. When shipping costs are calculated by FedEx, the weight of the shipment will be based on this code.

Federal Express Posting URL*

This contains the FedEx web posting address (URL) that the store uses to calculate shipping charges.

Do not change this web address unless told to do so by FedEx.
